How To Get a Covid Recovery Certificate for Australia
The Australian Government recently announced that Oz was open for visitors! Until now only those lucky enough to have Ozzy citizenship have been able to visit. The long voyage to this vast beautiful country has become even harder in recent years. Firstly there’s the one hundred hour flight time … or at least that’s what it feels like … but secondly Australia has had some of the strictest Covid-19 rules on earth. Credit where credit is due, the Ozzy Government has provided some of the most unambiguous and clear regulations on Covid-19 restrictions throughout the pandemic, and the same is true regarding their Covid-19 Certificate of Recovery from Covid-19.
Australia’s Certificate of Recovery
In January 2022, The Montague Clinic launched its Covid Recovery Certificate service. In designing this service we carefully studied the Australian Government’s rules to ensure that we conform. The purpose of the certificate is simple. Following a Covid-19 infection, all types of Covid-19 tests can remain positive for months, even after you’re no longer infectious. Possession of the certificate therefore offers passengers the benefits of travelling to Australia without having to take the otherwise obligatory pre-departure PCR test, which for such passengers might throw up a false positive result.
To travel to Australia, Certificates of Recovery must contain specific information about your recent Covid-19 infection. Firstly, your Covid test must be a PCR or rapid antigen test in accordance with Australian national guidance. Secondly the test needs to have been taken within a specific time frame. Presently, Australia requires the test to be taken at least 8 days prior to the date of issue of your Certificate of Recovery.
How To Apply
At The Montague Clinic, if you have the formal report of an accepted Covid-19 test then you may apply for a Certificate of Recovery. The application process involves an online medical assessment, which includes questions regarding your Covid-19 infection (e.g. symptoms you had and how severe they were), plus details about your positive Covid test. We also check your ID and your positive Covid test report. Once you’ve applied, our doctors can then review your details, and authorise the Proof of Recovery document. The document must be signed by a fully licensed medical practitioner, but don’t worry, all of our doctors are fully licenced General Practitioners, and fully registered with the GMC.
Our official turnaround time is 24 hours, but we normally do it much faster … usually in about 2 hours. Your digital certificate will be sent to your email address in PDF format, and we do recommend that you carry it together with a copy of your Covid-19 test report.
It is really important that you check the latest regulations of the Australian Government before you apply (Click Here), as they are subject to change. We try our best at The Montague Clinic to keep on top of these changes, but if you notice a change to the rules before we do then please let us know – our lightning quick clinical team can make any appropriate changes swiftly.
